Licensed Marriage + Family Therapist – LMFT 130075
"The process of living is like taking a very long road trip. The destination may be important, but the journey experienced day to day and week to week is what is invaluable.” ~ Steven C. Hayes
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I work with adults to explore new ways to navigate difficult thoughts, emotions, and patterns that hold you back from living the life you want to live. We’ll seek to understand your personal values and how they’re shaped by your socio-cultural background and experiences.
I believe that living a life that’s aligned with your values can dramatically improve quality of life. Having a deeper understanding of what’s important to you and how you’d like to relate to the world can help inform each decision you make. With that in mind, we’ll look at what things seem to be working for you, and what might not be. Whether you’ve recently gone through a transition and feel lost or confused, or you’re in the process of considering a major life change, or you’re wanting to take time to examine the relationships in your life – knowing your values can help you to navigate what action to take. I work from a relational and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) perspective, and I utilize self-compassion and mindfulness-based techniques that can be easily incorporated into everyday life.
In parent coaching, I support parents when their children struggle with anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, and other externalizing behaviors at home or at school. We work together to find more effective ways to communicate, set and hold limits, and understand their own role in the parent-child relational dynamic. We explore what needs the child may be communicating through their behaviors and work together to find new ways of interacting to better meet those needs. Ultimately, my goal as a parent coach is to help parents strengthen their connection and attunement with their children and gain confidence in knowing they can handle the challenges that will arise throughout their journey of parenthood.
It’s of the utmost importance to me to provide culturally responsive therapy and to promote social justice both personally and professionally. Your treatment goals and therapy sessions are individualized to you and tailored to address what you’re hoping to achieve; my conceptualization of the challenges you face are informed by the cultural factors with which you identify.
